Thomas Tuchel has agreed to become England’s manager after talks with the Football Association accelerated on Tuesday. The 51-year-old will be the third foreign manager of the men’s team and the first from Germany. The FA has had Tuchel on its shortlist for finding Gareth Southgate’s permanent successor that also included Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola and the interim manager, Lee Carsley, among others.

France forward Kylian Mbappe says it is a “dream come true” as his long-awaited move to Real Madrid was confirmed, external on Monday evening. Mbappe, 25, will move to the Bernabeu Stadium on a five-year deal when his Paris St-Germain contract expires on 30 June. He will earn €15m a season, plus a €150m signing-on bonus to be paid over five years, and he will keep a percentage of his image rights.

Borussia Dortmund produced a fine away performance to beat Paris St-Germain and reach their first Champions League final since 2013. Dortmund held a 1-0 advantage following the first leg of the semi-final and doubled their lead when Mats Hummels was left unmarked five yards out to head in from Julian Brandt’s left-wing corner. Niclas Füllkrug scored a brilliant first half winner as Borussia Dortmund beat Paris Saint Germain 1-0 in a frenetic first leg of their Champions League semi-final. The German international used his right foot to expertly bring down a long ball before hammering home with his left.
