The fallout from a tempestuous final Merseyside derby at Goodison Park has continued with the Football Association charging Everton, Liverpool, Arne Slot and his assistant Sipke Hulshoff. Slot has been charged with acting in an improper manner and/or using insulting and/or abusive words and/or behaviour towards both the match referee and an assistant referee.

Referee David Coote sacked by PGMOL following investigation

Referee David Coote has had his employment terminated following the emergence of a video where he made derogatory remarks about Liverpool and their former manager Jurgen Klopp. PGMOL confirmed the decision in a statement saying that a thorough investigation had concluded he was “in serious breach of the provisions of his employment contract, with his position deemed untenable”.

Tottenham lodge appeal against length of Bentancur ban

Tottenham have appealed against the length of the ban imposed on midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur for comments he made about his teammate Son Heung-min. The Football Association announced on Monday that Bentancur would serve a seven-match domestic suspension, covering six Premier League fixtures and a Carabao Cup quarter-final against Manchester United.

Thomas Tuchel set to be named as new England manager

Thomas Tuchel has agreed to become England’s manager after talks with the Football Association ­accelerated on Tuesday. The 51-year-old will be the third foreign manager of the men’s team and the first from Germany. The FA has had Tuchel on its shortlist for finding Gareth Southgate’s permanent successor that also included Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola and the interim manager, Lee Carsley, among others.
