Verstappen on pole ahead of Austrian Grand Prix

Red Bull’s Max Verstappen put in an imperious performance to take pole position for the Austrian Grand Prix from McLaren’s Lando Norris. Fresh from winning a fight with Norris and McLaren team-mate Oscar Piastri in the sprint race earlier on Saturday, Verstappen beat the Briton by 0.404 seconds. Mercedes’ George Russell qualified third, 0.526secs behind Verstappen, after Piastri had a time that had put him third deleted for exceeding track limits at Turn Six.

Max Verstappen edged out Lando Norris by just 0.093 seconds to take pole position for the sprint race at the Austrian Grand Prix. Verstappen, the last of the front-runners to cross the line, despite being unhappy with his tyres as a result of a chaotic end to the session and crowded track.

Sensational Norris pips Verstappen to pole for Spanish GP

McLaren’s Lando Norris pipped Max Verstappen’s Red Bull to pole position at the Spanish Grand Prix in a gripping qualifying session. Verstappen had appeared out of reach when he improved his own time, which was already fastest, by more than 0.2 seconds on his final run. But Norris crossed the line a few seconds later to beat Verstappen and take his first pole of the year.

George Russell pips Verstappen to pole ahead of Canadian GP

George Russell took Mercedes’ first pole position of the season ahead of Red Bull’s Max Verstappen at the Canadian Grand Prix. Russell and Verstappen set identical lap times of one minute 12 seconds dead but because the Briton banked his first he will start the race from first place. Lewis Hamilton could manage only seventh in the second Mercedes as Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri locked out the second row for McLaren. Both Ferraris failed to make the top ten shootout.

Haas pair disqualified from Monaco qualifying after DRS infringement

Both Haas drivers have been disqualified from today’s Monaco Grand Prix qualifying session after their cars failed a legality check. The FIA’s Formula 1 technical delegate Jo Bauer informed the stewards both drivers’ VF-24s did not pass an inspection of the DRS opening. Nico Hulkenberg had qualified P12 ahead of teammate Kevin Magnussen who was due to lineup p15.
