Manchester United legend Denis Law dies, aged 84

Former Scotland, Manchester United and Manchester City striker Denis Law – the only Scottish player to have won the Ballon d’Or – has died at the age of 84. The man dubbed ‘The King’ and ‘The Lawman’ spent 11 years at Old Trafford, his 237 goals in 404 appearances placing him third in United’s history behind Wayne Rooney and Bobby Charlton.

Csoboth the hero as Hungary break Scottish hearts

Scotland crashed out of Euro 2024 in the most heart-wrenching fashion as Kevin Csoboth’s 100th-minute winner earned Hungary a stunning late victory. The Scots, who could still have held faint hopes of the last 16 with a draw, were stung on the counter-attack to spark bedlam in the Stuttgart Arena. Scotland stay alive after draw with Switzerland

Battling Scotland got their Euro 2024 campaign back on track with a tension-filled 1-1 draw against Switzerland in Cologne. Scott McTominay’s shot in the 13th minute was deflected in by Swiss defender Fabian Schar. However, joy was replaced by despair in the 26th minute when Xherdan Shaqiri took advantage of an Anthony Ralston error to level with a world-class finish ensuring the spoils were shared.
