Man City have agreed a deal worth up to £36.3m for Wolves left-back Rayan Ait Nouri. The 23-year-old is now free to discuss personal terms and undergo a medical. City are hopeful of getting Ait Nouri’s medical completed and the deal finalised before Tuesday’s 7pm deadline which will allow him to play in the Club World Cup.

Chelsea have strengthened their attack by completing the £30m signing of Liam Delap from Ipswich. The club were determined to bring in a new striker this summer and have moved swiftly to secure one of their top targets. Joao Pedro scored a second-half penalty to dent Arsenal’s title hopes as the Gunners were held to a draw by Brighton. Arsenal went ahead in the 16th minute through Ethan Nwaneri, who was starting just his second match in the Premier League. However the penalty was awarded for an unusual incident when Pedro flicked the ball up and William Saliba made contact with the head of the Brazilian forward who went to ground.

Kai Havertz scored the only goal as Arsenal beat a stubborn Ipswich Town side to move up to second in the Premier League. The hosts claimed a 23rd-minute winner when Leandro Trossard picked the ball up wide on the left side of the penalty area and crossed for Havertz to tap in from close range.

Manchester United had to settle for a point at Ipswich in Ruben Amorim’s first game in charge despite striker Marcus Rashford providing the perfect start with his 81-second opener. Omari Hutchinson levelled for Ipswich before the break, with United keeper Andre Onana twice denying Liam Delap with stunning saves. It was a disappointing outcome for Amorim as his side struggled to contain Ipswich at times and found the home defence in defiant mood when it did seem an opportunity would come.
