Welsh Rugby Union confirms Ospreys or Scarlets will be cut

The Welsh Rugby Union has outlined how it plans to cut from four professional teams to three by 2028, with Ospreys and Scarlets set to fight to be the side in south west Wales. The governing body confirmed in April it intended to press on with plans to go down to three men’s teams from the 2028-29 season, with one in the capital, one in the east and one in the west.

Warren Gatland leaves post as Wales head coach

Warren Gatland has left his role as Wales head coach during the Six Nations after a record 14 successive Test match defeats.Gatland, 61, was contracted until the 2027 World Cup but has departed by mutual consent, the Welsh Rugby Union (WRU) confirmed. Cardiff head coach Matt Sherratt will take over as interim head coach for the remaining three games of the Six Nations.
