Cardiff City lose £100m court claim over Emiliano Sala death

A football club’s claim for compensation following the death of player Emiliano Sala in a plane crash has been rejected by a French court. The tribunal ordered Cardiff City to pay €480,000 to Nantes. The Welsh club had previously sought damages of more than £100 million (€115m) from the French side in a negligence claim, covering the Argentinian striker’s £15m (€17m) transfer fee and losses of potential earnings.

Warren Gatland leaves post as Wales head coach

Warren Gatland has left his role as Wales head coach during the Six Nations after a record 14 successive Test match defeats.Gatland, 61, was contracted until the 2027 World Cup but has departed by mutual consent, the Welsh Rugby Union (WRU) confirmed. Cardiff head coach Matt Sherratt will take over as interim head coach for the remaining three games of the Six Nations.

Mick McCarthy has been appointed as the new manager of Championship side Cardiff City following the sack of Neil Harris midweek. McCarthy left APOEL Nicosia earlier this month and brings assistant Terry Connor with him to Wales.
