Nottingham Forest head coach Nuno Espirito Santo has been sacked after 21 months in charge – and just three games into the season. The position of the Portuguese coach had been uncertain for two weeks since he publicly declared his relationship with owner Evangelos Marinakis had deteriorated. Talks are under way over Nuno’s replacement, with an appointment imminent and former Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou a contender.

Keith Andrews appointed as new Brentford coach

Keith Andrews says Brentford’s potential is “massive” after he was appointed as their new head coach on a three-year deal following Thomas Frank’s departure to Tottenham. Former Wolves midfielder Andrews, 44, joined the Bees last summer to work under Frank as the club’s set-piece coach. Having previously been on the coaching staff with Sheffield United, MK Dons and the Republic of Ireland, Andrews’ promotion to the top job is the Irishman’s first step into management.

Italy have appointed former midfielder Gennaro Gattuso as their manager. The AC Milan legend replaces Luciano Spalletti, who announced his own sacking at a news conference last week. Gattuso, 47, made 73 appearances for Italy and was a member of their 2006 World Cup-winning squad, and will now lead his country into the same tournament 20 years later.

Tottenham appoint Thomas Frank as new manager

Tottenham have appointed Brentford boss Thomas Frank as their head coach on a deal until 2028. The 51-year-old Dane replaces Ange Postecoglou, who was sacked earlier this month despite leading Spurs to victory in the Europa League final in May. Frank spent seven years in charge of Brentford, guiding the club from the Championship to the Premier League in 2021.

Inter Milan name Cristian Chivu as new manager

Champions League runners-up Inter Milan have appointed Parma boss Cristian Chivu as manager. The 44-year-old, a former defender and youth team coach at Inter, leaves Parma after only 13 games in charge and replaces Simone Inzaghi. The former Romania international was appointed by Parma in February – his first senior coaching role – winning three games as he steered Parma to Serie A safety.
