Manchester City have completed the signing of Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi for £20m. The England defender, who has been linked with some of Europe’s top clubs, almost joined Liverpool last summer, and was out of contract at the end of this season. Guehi had a medical on Sunday after agreeing personal terms with City and has signed a five-and-a-half-year contract.

Jude Bellingham produced a moment of genius to keep England in Euro 2024 as they survived another desperate display and a huge scare to beat Slovakia in dramatic fashion to reach the last eight. England were seconds away from an embarrassing exit in Gelsenkirchen as Slovakia defended a lead they had held since the 25th minute when Ivan Schranz raced into the box to poke a low finish past England keeper Jordan Pickford.

Arsenal took maximum points on the opening night of the Premier League with a goal in each half enough to sweep aside Crystal Palace 2-0. Gabriel Martinelli scored the first goal of the season with a second half Marc Guehi own goal ending any hopes Palace had of earning a share of the spoils.
