Ireland keeping winning streak going against resilient Wales

Ireland’s quest for back-to-back Six Nations Grand Slams remains on, as they secured a 31-7 victory over Wales in Round 3 at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin. Hooker Dan Sheehan, wing James Lowe, full-back Ciaran Frawley and lock Tadhg Beirne scored tries in the bonus-point success, with out-half Jack Crowley finishing 100 per cent with the boot, landing a penalty and all four conversions.

England’s ambition of making a fresh start on their return to Twickenham failed to produce the hoped for fireworks but they at least had the resilience to dig out a 16-14 victory over Wales. For the first time in Guinness Six Nations history, Warren Gatland’s team led at the interval in their great rival’s stronghold after storming 14-5 ahead through a penalty try and Alex Mann touch down.

Wales earn much needed win against Italy in Rome

Wales recorded a much needed first win of their Guinness Six Nations campaign after beating Italy 29-17 at Stadio Olimpico. Warren Gatland’s team arrived in Rome with the wooden spoon a realistic prospect following successive defeats against Ireland, Scotland and England but managed to see off the Italians who left plenty of scores on the field.
