France power to victory against spirited Wales

France overpowered winless Wales in an eight-try Six Nations thriller in Cardiff. France scored tries through Gael Fickou, Nolann Le Garrec, Georges-Henri Colombe, Romain Taofifenua and Maxime Lucu, with Thomas Ramos adding 20 points. Winger Duhan van der Merwe scored two tries as Scotland claimed a dramatic first win in Cardiff for 22 years after withstanding a remarkable fightback from Wales to seal a narrow victory. Prop Pierre Schoeman also crossed for a try for the visitors who led 27-0 early in the second half and looked like racking up a record score against the Welsh before yellow cards for hooker George Turner and centre Sione Tuipulotu killed their momentum and the hosts scored 26 unanswered points.

Wales earn much needed win against Italy in Rome

Wales recorded a much needed first win of their Guinness Six Nations campaign after beating Italy 29-17 at Stadio Olimpico. Warren Gatland’s team arrived in Rome with the wooden spoon a realistic prospect following successive defeats against Ireland, Scotland and England but managed to see off the Italians who left plenty of scores on the field.
