Man City lead race to sign Bournemouth’s Semenyo

Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo’s preference is to move to Manchester City in January. Semenyo’s desire to win trophies is key to his wish to join Pep Guardiola’s side. As yet nothing formal has been agreed, with the January transfer window not open for another week. Chelsea have decided against pursuing a move for Semenyo, 25, after making an initial enquiry with Manchester United also monitoring the situation.

Alexander Isak undergoes surgery on fractured ankle

Liverpool’s record signing, Alexander Isak, is facing several months on the sidelines after undergoing surgery on an ankle injury that included a fractured fibula. Isak sustained the injury as a result of a heavy challenge from Micky van de Ven while in the process of scoring in Liverpool’s 2-1 win against Tottenham he was helped off in considerable pain and MRI scans confirmed Liverpool’s initial fears of a serious problem.

Liverpool scrambled to a 2-1 win at nine-man Tottenham, somehow surviving a chaotic finale which saw Richarlison pull one back and Cristian Romero shown a red for kicking out at Ibrahima Konate as Spurs chased a last-gasp leveller. Guardiola dismisses exit talk at Man City

Pep Guardiola said Friday that his departure from Manchester City is “not on the table” at the moment as he focuses on trying to wrest back the Premier League title. Guardiola, 54, is contracted at the Etihad until the end of the 2026/27 season but reports this week said City’s hierarchy were eyeing up potential replacements should the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich coach step away at the end of the current campaign.

Dan Burn suffers broken rib and punctured lung in derby loss

Dan Burn suffered a rib fracture and damage to his lung after a nasty collision during Newcastle’s loss to Sunderland on Sunday. Eddie Howe confirmed that the defender was taken to hospital after the incident that left him with breathing difficulties. Burn was forced off in the first half during the 1-0 loss at the Stadium of Light after a collision with Black Cats defender Nordi Mukiele.
