Barcelona have suffered another significant injury blow after confirming on Wednesday that Pedri will be out for the foreseeable future with a hamstring injury. Real Madrid edged an impassioned El Clasico at the Bernabeu to beat Barcelona 2-1 and go five points clear at the top of La Liga. Kylian Mbappe fired Los Blancos ahead before Fermin Lopez brought Barca level however a Jude Bellingham header proved decisive before the interval. Mbappe saw a second half penalty saved but Barcelona were unable to find an equaliser.

England right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold has confirmed he will leave Premier League champions Liverpool at the end of the season. The 26-year-old, who has been at the club since he was six, is out of contract on 30 June and is expected to join Real Madrid. The Liverpool-born defender has made 352 appearances, scored 23 goals and provided 86 assists for the club since making his debut in 2016.

Bukayo Saka scored a goal and missed a penalty as Arsenal held off Real Madrid to reach the Champions League semi-finals in an incident-packed match at the Bernabeu. Saka stepped up but his weak, dinked effort was saved by Thibaut Courtois. However he made amends when he effectively killed off the tie with a fantastic chipped second-half finish. Real hit back through Vinicius Junior but a late winner from Gabriel Martinelli capped off a glorious night for the Gunners.

Real Madrid are in advanced talks to complete the signing of Liverpool full back Trent Alexander-Arnold on a free transfer this summer. The 26 year old is in the last three months of his contract and is free to discuss his future with other clubs. The Spanish giants have long been admirers of the Merseysider and have developed a strategy of signing players on free transfer in recent years including Kylian Mbappe last summer.
