Verstappen beats Leclerc to pole in Saudi Arabia

Red Bull’s Max Verstappen was in imperious form as he set pole position at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. Verstappen did not need a second lap in final qualifying as he beat Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc by 0.319 seconds while his teammate Sergio Perez will start third ahead of the impressive Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso.

Carlos Sainz out of Saudi Arabian GP with appendicitis, Oliver Bearman to drive

British teenager Oliver Bearman will replace Carlos Sainz at Ferrari for this weekend’s Saudi Arabian Grand Prix after the Spaniard underwent successful surgery for appendicitis. Sainz missed his media duties on Wednesday through illness before participating in both of Thursday’s practice sessions in Jeddah, but Ferrari announced ahead of Friday’s final practice and qualifying that the Spaniard had been diagnosed with appendicitis.
