The Brazilian took advantage of two errors from Bayern defender Kim Min-jae – beating him for the opener and converting a penalty he conceded. Arsenal made a bitterly disappointing exit from the Champions League as they were beaten by Bayern Munich in a euphoric atmosphere at Allianz Arena. Joshua Kimmich’s powerful 63rd-minute header from Raphael Guerreiro’s cross was enough to send the Germans through to the semi-finals 3-2 on aggregate after the two teams had drawn 2-2 in London in the first leg.

Harry Kane returned to north London with a goal as Arsenal’s Champions League hopes hang in the balance after they fought out a draw with Bayern Munich in the quarter-final first leg at Emirates Stadium. Manager Thomas Tuchel will leave Bayern Munich at the end of the season. The 50-year-old replaced Julian Nagelsmann at the German champions in March 2023 on a deal until June 2025. The former Chelsea boss will depart a year earlier than planned as part of “a sporting realignment” at Bayern.
