Tottenham have appealed against the length of the ban imposed on midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur for comments he made about his teammate Son Heung-min. The Football Association announced on Monday that Bentancur would serve a seven-match domestic suspension, covering six Premier League fixtures and a Carabao Cup quarter-final against Manchester United.

Ange Postecoglou’s quest to end Tottenham’s trophy drought continued as victory over Manchester City booked a Carabao Cup quarter-final with Manchester United. Timo Werner, who had a mixed evening, scored his first goal of the season with an emphatic finish after five minutes, before Pape Sarr doubled the home advantage 20 minutes later. Matheus Nunes pulled one back for City but the home side held on to win.

Brighton comeback from two goals down to stun Spurs

Brighton produced a superb fightback to come from two goals down and beat Tottenham in a Premier League thriller on the south coast. Spurs looked to be heading to a sixth successive victory in all competitions as they deservedly led 2-0 after 37 minutes. Tottenham agree new loan deal for Timo Werner

Tottenham have agreed a deal to extend Timo Werner’s spell from RB Leipzig until the end of next season. The Germany forward made 14 appearances in all competitions and scored twice for Spurs after joining them on a temporary basis from the Bundesliga side in January. Under that arrangement Tottenham had the option to sign the 28-year-old permanently for £15m this summer, however, the new agreement will contain an £8.5m option to buy.
