Former world No. 1 Simona Halep has been provisionally suspended after testing positive for a banned substance. Halep said this was the “biggest shock” of her life. The International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) said that “while provisionally suspended, the player is ineligible to compete in or attend any sanctioned tennis events organised by the governing bodies of the sport”.

Serena Williams set to retire after US Open

Serena Williams looks set to retire from tennis after the 2022 US Open. The 23-time Grand Slam champion has announced she is “evolving away from tennis” and hopes to have a second child with husband Alexis. Williams, 40, is playing at the Canadian Open this week and says that she has called Tiger Woods to ask for advice over the future of her career.
