The Red Bull driver’s eighth consecutive victory in the final race before the summer break extended his championship lead to 125 points. Verstappen led Sergio Perez home to a Red Bull one-two Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc took third ahead of Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton.

Max Verstappen caught and passed McLaren’s Oscar Piastri to win an incident-packed wet sprint race at the Belgian Grand Prix. Piastri, who started second behind Verstappen, took the lead as a result of stopping for a change to intermediate tyres as soon as the race was started following five laps behind the safety car. Alpine’s Pierre Gasly was a surprise third.
