Graham Rowntree has signed a two-year contract extension that will see his stint as Munster head-coach extended until at least 2026. Rowntree guided the province to the URC title back in May in the Englishman’s first season as head coach with an excellent win over Stormers in South Africa.

Red Bull’s Max Verstappen dominated the Japanese Grand Prix to take his 13th victory of the year and help his team clinch the constructors’ title. The Dutchman fended off the McLarens of Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris at the first two corners and then motored away into a race of his own.

Red Bull’s Max Verstappen put in a stunning performance to set pole position for the Japanese Grand Prix. The Dutchman was a massive 0.581 seconds clear of the impressive Oscar Piastri in second, 0.035secs ahead of McLaren team-mate Lando Norris. Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc was fourth, ahead of Red Bull’s Sergio Perez, who was 0.773secs slower than Verstappen.

Julian Nagelsmann has been appointed as Germany’s new manager following Hansi Flick’s sacking earlier this month. The 36-year-old left his role as Bayern Munich boss earlier this year, with Thomas Tuchel replacing him at the Allianz Arena.

Liverpool came from behind to beat LASK Linz as they made a winning start to their Europa League campaign. LASK midfielder Florian Flecker struck a brilliant opener from the edge of the area on 19 minutes for the Austrians. Darwin Nunez equalised from the penalty spot after Luis Diaz was fouled, before Diaz himself scored the winner from debutant Ryan Gravenberch’s cross.
