Leicester appoint Ruud van Nistelrooy as new manager

Leicester City have appointed former PSV Eindhoven boss Ruud van Nistelrooy as their new manager. The Dutchman replaces Steve Cooper, who was sacked last weekend after just 12 Premier League matches in charge of the Foxes. He has signed a contract until June 2027 at the King Power Stadium. Leicester City sack manager Steve Cooper

Leicester City have sacked manager Steve Cooper with the club 16th in the Premier League after 12 games. The Foxes were beaten 2-1 by a Chelsea side managed by former boss Enzo Maresca on Saturday – a defeat which left them two points above the relegation zone. Cooper took over from Maresca in the summer after the Italian had led Leicester to the 2023-24 Championship title and promotion back into the Premier League.
