Esteban Ocon to leave Alpine at end of season

Esteban Ocon will leave Alpine at the end of the current Formula 1 season after he and the team agreed not to extend their agreement beyond the conclusion of his contract. The 27-year-old has raced for the Enstone-based team since the start of the 2020 season, under its previous identity as Renault, but a clear rift between the Frenchman and team management has become apparent this season culminating in an inexcusable incident with his teammate at the Monaco GP.

Red Bull confirm departure of chief technical officer Adrian Newey

Red Bull have confirmed their design chief Adrian Newey will leave the team in early 2025. Newey, regarded as the greatest designer in the history of Formula 1, told Red Bull last week he wanted to leave in the wake of the controversy involving allegations about team principal Christian Horner. The 65-year-old’s next team has not been decided but Ferrari are hot favourites to sign him.

Nico Hulkenberg to join Sauber from Haas in 2025

Nico Hulkenberg will join the Sauber team for the 2025 season before their transformation into the factory Audi team in 2026. The 36-year-old German is the first driver to sign for Audi as they build up to their debut season in Formula 1. Their other prime target is Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz who is yet to sign for the 2025 season after he lost his seat at Ferrari to Lewis Hamilton.

Australia to host season opener as F1 2025 calendar announced

Formula 1 has confirmed a 24-race schedule for 2025 that will see the season start in Australia for the first time since 2019. The 2025 calendar features the same 24 circuits as F1’s 2024 schedule, which was the longest in the sport’s history, but there have been changes to the order for the world championship’s 75th anniversary season.
