Imperious Barcelona thumped visitors Borussia Dortmund 4-0 in their Champions League quarter-final first leg on Wednesday after Robert Lewandowski netted twice against his old club to earn the Catalans a sizeable lead. Inter Milan struck late to put themselves in a strong position to advance into the Champions League semi-finals after winning the first leg of their last-eight tie at Bayern Munich. The German hosts dominated the opening half hour but fell behind to a superb strike from Lautaro Martinez however Thomas Müller brought the hosts level late on. Xabi Alonso says he will remain in his role as Bayer Leverkusen manager next season as he believes the club is the “right place” to be as a young coach. The Spaniard had been heavily linked with the manager’s job at Liverpool since Jurgen Klopp said he would stand down at the end of the season. “I am convinced it is the right decision, I am happy,” said Alonso.

Bayern Munich have announced that Julian Nagelsmann will leave Bundesliga rivals RB Leipzig to become their new head coach on July 1st.
