Arsenal’s Kai Havertz ruled out for the rest of the season

Arsenal striker Kai Havertz will miss the remainder of the season after being told he needs surgery to repair a hamstring injury. The Gunners confirmed on Thursday afternoon that the damage the 25-year-old Germany international suffered during a warm-weather training camp in Dubai last week requires an operation. Arsenal are still waiting to discover the full extent of Martin Ødegaard’s ankle injury but their captain is expected to be unavailable for at least three weeks. This means he will miss Sunday’s north London derby and the trip to Manchester City on 22 September. Mikel Arteta charged by FA for comments after Newcastle defeat

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has been charged by the Football Association for comments he made after their 1-0 defeat by Newcastle. Arteta, 41, called the video assistant referee’s (VAR) decision to allow Newcastle’s goal “embarrassing” and a “disgrace”. Arteta has until Tuesday to respond to the charge.
