Nottingham Forest have sacked their global head of football, Edu Gaspar, after just over a year at the club. The former Arsenal midfielder was brought in ahead of last season with a broad remit covering recruitment, squad strategy, player development and performance. Newcastle appoint Matthias Jaissle as new manager

Newcastle United have confirmed the appointment of Matthias Jaissle as the club’s new head coach following the departure of Eddie Howe. The 38-year-old former Al Ahli boss, who met up with the players at their preseason training camp in Spain’s La Manga over the weekend, has started work after the relevant paperwork was finally completed. Newcastle are reported to have paid significant compensation to Al Ahli, in excess of £9 million to secure Jaissle’s services on a four-year deal.

Mikel Arteta promises spending to aid Arsenal’s title defence

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta says the Gunners will not “sit still” and are looking to bolster squad competition with “ambitious” transfer plans this summer. Kieran McKenna steps down as Ipswich manager

Kieran McKenna has resigned as Ipswich Town manager, just weeks after clinching a return to the Premier League. The 40-year-old took charge of the Tractor Boys in 2021 and guided them to three promotions in the past four seasons, two of which have taken the club into the top flight. Former Wolves head coach Gary O’Neil – currently boss of Strasbourg – is one manager in the frame to replace McKenna.
