Roma sack Ivan Jurić following loss to Bologna

Roma have sacked Ivan Juric after only 12 matches in charge. The Croatian became the second Roma head coach to be fired this season after the side’s 3-2 home defeat by Bologna their fourth loss in the last five league games which left them 12th in the Serie A table. Juric was appointed in September after the dismissal of club legend Daniele de Rossi but he was unable to turn around the fortunes of the Giallorossi.

Paul Pogba doping ban reduced from four years to 18 months after appeal

Paul Pogba’s doping suspension has been cut to 18 months from an initial four years, the court of arbitration for sport (Cas) said on Friday. “The suspension is now 18 months, starting 11 September 2023,” the Cas director general Matthieu Reebsaid. Pogba was suspended in September 2023 after testing positive for DHEA – a banned substance that raises levels of testosterone.

Juventus appoint Thiago Motta as new manager

Italian club Juventus have appointed former Bologna boss Thiago Motta as their new manager. The 41-year-old, who played for Italy and Juve’s Serie A rivals Inter Milan as a midfielder, has signed a three-year deal until June 2027. He replaces Massimiliano Allegri, who was sacked two days after he led the side to the Italian Cup.

Napoli appoint Antonio Conte as new manager

Napoli have appointed Antonio Conte as manager, the Serie A club announced on Wednesday, with the Italian signing a contract until 2027. Conte will be coming back from a one-year break following his departure from the position of head coach at Tottenham. He will take charge of a Napoli team that endured a lacklustre season, finishing in 10th place as they sought to defend their title as champions of the 2022-23 season.

Juventus sack manager Massimiliano Allegri

Juventus have sacked manager Massimiliano Allegri just two days after he led the side to glory in the Coppa Italia. The club cited Allegri’s behaviour during the final minutes of the game as grounds for his dismissal however even before his antics at the Stadio Olimpico, the 56-year-old had been expected to lose his job and be replaced by Bologna coach Thiago Motta.
