The 61-year-old Scot has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract at Goodison Park following the sacking of Sean Dyche on Thursday. Seamus Coleman and Leighton Baines will take temporary charge of Everton for tonight’s FA Cup clash against Peterborough United, after manager Sean Dyche was sacked by the club hours before kick-off. The club confirmed the news in a statement this afternoon, saying that Dyche and his coaching staff were departing with immediate effect and that the process to find his replacement was underway.

Claudio Ranieri has been appointed head coach of Roma until the end of the season – six months after announcing his retirement. Ranieri has also taken on a role advising the Italian club’s owners and will help in the search for a permanent manager. At the end of the season the 73-year-old will “transition into a senior executive role”, the club said.

Roma have sacked Ivan Juric after only 12 matches in charge. The Croatian became the second Roma head coach to be fired this season after the side’s 3-2 home defeat by Bologna their fourth loss in the last five league games which left them 12th in the Serie A table. Juric was appointed in September after the dismissal of club legend Daniele de Rossi but he was unable to turn around the fortunes of the Giallorossi.
