Claudio Ranieri ends retirement to become Roma manager

Claudio Ranieri has been appointed head coach of Roma until the end of the season – six months after announcing his retirement. Ranieri has also taken on a role advising the Italian club’s owners and will help in the search for a permanent manager. At the end of the season the 73-year-old will “transition into a senior executive role”, the club said.

Watford appoint Roy Hodgson as new manager

Watford have announced the appointment of Roy Hodgson as their new manager. The Hornets sacked Claudio Ranieri on Monday after only 16 weeks in charge following a nine-game run without a win. A 3-0 defeat at home to relegation rivals Norwich on Friday saw Watford drop into the Premier League bottom three for the first time this season and the club’s owners have turned to Hodgson.
