Claudio Ranieri has been appointed head coach of Roma until the end of the season – six months after announcing his retirement. Ranieri has also taken on a role advising the Italian club’s owners and will help in the search for a permanent manager. At the end of the season the 73-year-old will “transition into a senior executive role”, the club said.

Roma have sacked Ivan Juric after only 12 matches in charge. The Croatian became the second Roma head coach to be fired this season after the side’s 3-2 home defeat by Bologna their fourth loss in the last five league games which left them 12th in the Serie A table. Juric was appointed in September after the dismissal of club legend Daniele de Rossi but he was unable to turn around the fortunes of the Giallorossi.

Napoli have appointed Antonio Conte as manager, the Serie A club announced on Wednesday, with the Italian signing a contract until 2027. Conte will be coming back from a one-year break following his departure from the position of head coach at Tottenham.
