Arsenal striker Kai Havertz will miss the remainder of the season after being told he needs surgery to repair a hamstring injury. The Gunners confirmed on Thursday afternoon that the damage the 25-year-old Germany international suffered during a warm-weather training camp in Dubai last week requires an operation. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta says winger Bukayo Saka will miss “many weeks” with a hamstring injury. The England attacker was forced off during Saturday’s 5-1 win against Crystal Palace and left Selhurst Park on crutches. Arsenal are still waiting to discover the full extent of Martin Ødegaard’s ankle injury but their captain is expected to be unavailable for at least three weeks. This means he will miss Sunday’s north London derby and the trip to Manchester City on 22 September. Ødegaard left the pitch in tears after a challenge from Christoph Baumgartner during Norway’s win over Austria on Monday and was pictured on crutches on Tuesday when he returned to Arsenal for more tests.
