The 49 year old German took charge of the Blues in January 2021 leading them to the Champions League title that year but a poor start to the season culminating in last night’s shock defeat to Dinamo Zagreb has resulted in his dismissal.

Roman Abramovich has handed “stewardship and care” of Chelsea to the club’s charitable foundation following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Abramovich will remain Chelsea owner and the Russian billionaire will not be asking the club to repay the loans it owes him.

Chelsea have confirmed Romelu Lukaku’s return to Stamford Bridge after he completed his transfer from Inter Milan for a reported club record fee of €115m. The 28-year-old Belgian striker has signed a five-year deal at the club he first joined in 2011.
