Premier League clubs vote in principle to back spending cap

Premier League clubs have voted in favour of developing plans to introduce a spending cap. Sixteen clubs approved proposals for the Premier League to complete the final economic and legal analysis needed to create a spending-cap model. The model if voted through it would replace the current Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) from the 2025-26 season onwards.

Arsenal survive Spurs fightback to win North London derby

Premier League leaders Arsenal survived a second-half scare at Tottenham to hold on for a 3-2 north London derby victory that cemented their place at the top. A 23-minute blitz saw the Gunners race into a 3-0 lead through a Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg own goal, Bukayo Saka finish and Kai Havertz header but an error from David Raya opened the door for Spurs to hit back through Cristian Romero and a Heung-min Son penalty.

Sheffield relegated after heavy loss to Newcastle

Sheffield United’s relegation from the Premier League was confirmed as Newcastle recovered from a sluggish start to thrash Chris Wilder’s side at St James’ Park. Arne Slot confirms he wants Liverpool job

Feyenoord manager Arne Slot has said he hopes to take over from Jurgen Klopp as Liverpool manager at the end of the season. Liverpool opened talks with the Rotterdam club on Wednesday about Slot’s potential appointment. Liverpool will have to negotiate a fee if they are to acquire his services as a buyout clause in his contract is not active until the summer of 2025.
