Forest edge Brighton on penalties to reach FA Cup semi-finals

Nottingham Forest won a third straight FA Cup penalty shootout to beat Brighton and reach the semi-finals of the competition for the first time in 34 years. Goalkeeper Matz Sels was the hero for the visitors, saving Jack Hinshelwood and Diego Gomez’s spot-kicks as Forest won the shootout 4-3 after the drab match had finished goalless after 120 minutes of action.

Nottingham Forest booked an FA Cup quarter-final trip to Brighton after a penalty shootout win over Ipswich. Matz Sels was the hero, saving Jack Taylor’s low effort as the hosts went through 5-4 on spot-kicks after Ryan Yates had cancelled out George Hirst’s opener to force extra time.

Wood hits double as Forest down Leicester

Chris Wood scored a brace as Nottingham Forest moved up to fifth in the Premier League with a 3-1 victory over hosts Leicester City in the East Midlands derby on Friday, underlining their excellent start to the season. Ryan Yates gave Forest the lead before Jamie Vardy brought the Foxes level however Wood was on hand to earn Forest all three points.
