Simona Halep provisionally suspended following positive test

Former world No. 1 Simona Halep has been provisionally suspended after testing positive for a banned substance. Halep said this was the “biggest shock” of her life. The International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) said that “while provisionally suspended, the player is ineligible to compete in or attend any sanctioned tennis events organised by the governing bodies of the sport”.

Cristiano Ronaldo has been dropped for Manchester United’s trip to Chelsea on Saturday as punishment for refusing to go on as a late substitute and for leaving early in Wednesday’s win over Tottenham. Ireland set to launch bid to host Tour de France Grand Départ

The island of Ireland intends to pursue a joint North-South bid to host the opening stages of a future Tour de France in either 2026 or 2027. Catherine Martin TD, Minister for Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media and Minister Gordon Lyons MLA have today submitted an expression of interest in the formal bidding process to the Tour organisers.
