Arsenal had a late goal disallowed as they dropped two points in the Premier League title race after throwing away a two-goal lead at home to Aston Villa.Kai Havertz thought he had found the winner with a minute left in normal time but the goal was disallowed after replays showed he handled Mikel Merino’s shot. Amad Diallo scored a stunning late hat-trick as Manchester United turned what seemed certain to be a humiliating defeat into a thrilling victory over Southampton at Old Trafford. United appeared to be heading for a fourth consecutive top-flight home defeat after a Manuel Ugarte own goal gave Southampton the lead but Diallo’s dazzling display spared the home side’s blushes.

Werner ends goal drought as Spurs edge out City – Carabao Cup

Ange Postecoglou’s quest to end Tottenham’s trophy drought continued as victory over Manchester City booked a Carabao Cup quarter-final with Manchester United. Timo Werner, who had a mixed evening, scored his first goal of the season with an emphatic finish after five minutes, before Pape Sarr doubled the home advantage 20 minutes later. Matheus Nunes pulled one back for City but the home side held on to win.
