Red Bull sack team principal Christian Horner after 20 years

Christian Horner has been sacked as Red Bull team principal after 20 years in the role. The 51-year-old has been in charge of the Formula 1 team since their inception in 2005, leading them to eight drivers’ championship and six constructors’ championship titles. The dismissal follows months of declining form for the team and internal disputes at the highest level.

Lando Norris wins dramatic wet-dry British Grand Prix

McLaren’s Lando Norris took his first home victory in a chaotic, dramatic, rain-affected British Grand Prix. Norris benefited from a 10-second penalty handed to team-mate Oscar Piastri, who was found to have driven erratically during a restart after one of two safety-car periods at Silverstone. Piastri had led the race calmly through a heavy shower of rain and series of incidents but was passed by Norris when he served his penalty at his final pit stop in the closing laps.

Verstappen storms to sensational Silverstone Pole

Red Bull’s Max Verstappen pipped McLaren’s Oscar Piastri to pole position at the British Grand Prix with the very last lap of qualifying. Verstappen beat Piastri by 0.103 seconds, with McLaren’s Lando Norris just 0.015secs behind in third and Mercedes’ George Russell a further 0.019secs adrift in fourth. Lewis Hamilton, second quickest behind Piastri after the first runs in final qualifying, slipped back to fifth at the end, just ahead of his Ferrari team-mate Charles Leclerc.
