Antonelli beats Ferrari duo to pole for British Grand Prix

Mercedes’ Kimi Antonelli took pole position for the British Grand Prix with another impressive performance to beat the Ferraris and team-mate George Russell. The Italian, who won the sprint race at Silverstone earlier on Saturday, beat Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc by 0.175 seconds.

Lewis Hamilton was third in the second Ferrari, ahead of George Russell, who was 0.370secs slower than his 19-year-old team-mate. Isack Hadjar took fifth, beating team-Max Verstappen for only the second time all year when both finished qualifying, the Dutchman split from the Frenchman by McLaren’s Lando Norris.

While McLaren’s Lando Norris, Mercedes’ George Russell and Red Bull’s Max Verstappen staged a frantic place-swapping scrap in the opening laps at Silverstone, Antonelli bided his time before homing in on Hamilton at the front.

Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton pipped Mercedes’ Kimi Antonelli to a stunning pole position for the sprint race at the British Grand Prix. Hamilton, a record nine-time winner of his home race, took top spot from the championship leader by just 0.011 seconds. Red Bull’s Max Verstappen was third fastest, but 0.321secs off the pace.

Verstappen storms to sensational Silverstone Pole

Red Bull’s Max Verstappen pipped McLaren’s Oscar Piastri to pole position at the British Grand Prix with the very last lap of qualifying. Verstappen beat Piastri by 0.103 seconds, with McLaren’s Lando Norris just 0.015secs behind in third and Mercedes’ George Russell a further 0.019secs adrift in fourth. Lewis Hamilton, second quickest behind Piastri after the first runs in final qualifying, slipped back to fifth at the end, just ahead of his Ferrari team-mate Charles Leclerc.

Russell takes pole as Mercedes lock out front row at Silverstone

Mercedes’ George Russell pipped teammate Lewis Hamilton to pole position for tomorrow’s British Grand Prix at Silverstone. McLaren’s Lando Norris did enough to see off the Red Bull of Max Verstappen to insure it will be an all British top three. Oscar Piastri will start from P5 in the other McLaren while Nico Hulkenberg produced a superb lap to qualify P6 for Haas.
