Mercedes’ Kimi Antonelli caught and passed Lewis Hamilton to win an action-packed sprint race at the British Grand Prix. While McLaren’s Lando Norris, Mercedes’ George Russell and Red Bull’s Max Verstappen staged a frantic place-swapping scrap in the opening laps at Silverstone, Antonelli bided his time before homing in on Hamilton at the front.

Hamilton pips Antonelli to pole for British GP Sprint

Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton pipped Mercedes’ Kimi Antonelli to a stunning pole position for the sprint race at the British Grand Prix. Hamilton, a record nine-time winner of his home race, took top spot from the championship leader by just 0.011 seconds. Red Bull’s Max Verstappen was third fastest, but 0.321secs off the pace.

Russell edges out Antonelli for pole in Canada

George Russell beat Mercedes team-mate Kimi Antonelli to pole position for the Canadian Grand Prix with the very last lap of the qualifying session. A final run on which he did two flying laps enabled him to pip Antonelli by 0.068 seconds. Antonelli had looked set to beat his team-mate when he eclipsed the time set by McLaren’s Lando Norris on the Briton’s first run, with Russell’s first lap on his final run good enough only for third.

Russell pips Antonelli to take pole for Canada Sprint

George Russell bounced back after a difficult recent run to beat Mercedes team-mate Kimi Antonelli to sprint pole at the Canadian Grand Prix. The Briton, who is 20 points adrift of the Italian after four races this season, headed Antonelli by 0.068 seconds after being fastest on both runs in final qualifying. Lando Norris headed an all-McLaren second row, 0.315secs off pole and 0.019secs in front of team-mate Oscar Piastri.

Lando Norris surges to pole for Sprint in Miami

McLaren’s Lando Norris became the first driver to beat a Mercedes in qualifying this year with sprint pole at the Miami Grand Prix. The world champion beat championship leader Kimi Antonelli by 0.222 seconds with the second McLaren of Oscar Piastri third fastest. Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc was fourth, ahead of Red Bull’s Max Verstappen and Mercedes’ George Russell. Lewis Hamilton was seventh in the second Ferrari, ahead of Argentine Franco Colapinto in the Alpine.
