Former England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson has died at the age of 76. Eriksson, the first non-British manager of the England team, led the Three Lions to the quarter-finals at three major tournaments during his five-year spell in charge between 2001 and 2006. In January Eriksson said he had “at best” a year to live after being diagnosed with cancer.

Napoli have appointed Antonio Conte as manager, the Serie A club announced on Wednesday, with the Italian signing a contract until 2027. Conte will be coming back from a one-year break following his departure from the position of head coach at Tottenham. France and Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba has been banned from football for four years for a doping offence. The 2018 World Cup winner tested positive for testosterone after Juventus’ game against Udinese on August 20, 2023. The 30 year old has stated he will lodge an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Juventus midfielder Nicolo Fagioli has been banned for seven months by the Italian football federation for breaching betting rules. Fagioli was given a 12-month ban, with five months suspended, and fined €12,500. The 22-year-old will also have to have therapy for his gambling problem.
