Rodri to miss rest of season after ACL surgery

Manchester City midfielder Rodri will miss the rest of the season after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament. The 28-year-old limped out of Sunday’s 2-2 draw against Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday following a collision with Thomas Partey. Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola says Rodri has now had surgery on his knee and will miss the rest of the campaign.

Daniel Ricciardo replaced by Liam Lawson at RB for rest of 2024

Daniel Ricciardo has been replaced at RB by Liam Lawson for the remainder of the 2024 season. The 35-year-old Australian has been dropped with six races to go because Red Bull management have been unconvinced by his performances. Giving Lawson the seat allows him to be assessed over the remaining races before Red Bull finalise their plans for 2025.

Man United held by Twente in Europa League opener

Christian Eriksen was hero and villain for Manchester United as Erik ten Hag’s men stumbled at the start of their Europa League campaign, being held to a draw by their Dutch manager’s boyhood club Twente. Eriksen gave United a first-half lead with a superb strike from inside the penalty area. However, against a dogged Twente outfit, Eriksen was punished when he allowed himself to be caught in possession by Sam Lammers just outside the United box.

Bidding reopened for 2027 Champions League Final

Concerns over the future of San Siro mean it will not host the 2026/27 UEFA Champions League final. The governing body has stripped the stadium of the rights to stage the game, as its future remains up in the air. UEFA are worried “the Municipality of Milano could not guarantee that the San Siro and its surroundings would not be affected by refurbishments” and have re-opened the bidding process.
