Inter Milan struck late to put themselves in a strong position to advance into the Champions League semi-finals after winning the first leg of their last-eight tie at Bayern Munich. The German hosts dominated the opening half hour but fell behind to a superb strike from Lautaro Martinez however Thomas Müller brought the hosts level late on. Parity was not restored for long with Davide Frattesi popping up with what could be a decisive goal.

Southampton sack manager Ivan Jurić following relegation

Southampton have reached an agreement with manager Ivan Juric to leave following relegation from the Premier League on Sunday. Juric was appointed as Russell Martin’s successor on an 18-month deal in December but has won just two of his 16 matches. Sunday’s 3-1 defeat at Tottenham consigned the rock-bottom Saints to the earliest relegation in Premier League history with eight games still to play.

Verstappen eases to victory ahead of Norris at Japanese GP

Red Bull’s Max Verstappen fended off a race-long challenge from the McLarens of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri to win the Japanese Grand Prix. The Dutchman’s fourth consecutive victory at Suzuka was his first of the year and moves him to within one point of Norris at the head of the drivers’ championship. Verstappen’s drive was cool under intense pressure, with rarely more than two seconds between him and Norris. Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc ahead of the Mercedes duo of George Russell and Kimi Antonelli.

Verstappen storms to sensational pole at Suzuka

Max Verstappen stunned his own Red Bull team and rivals McLaren by grabbing pole position from Lando Norris for the Japanese Grand Prix. Lagging behind the McLarens throughout the weekend, the world champion pipped Norris by 0.012 seconds with his final lap of the session. The second McLaren of Oscar Piastri was third ahead of Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc while Mercedes’ George Russell took fifth ahead of Lewis Hamilton’s Ferrari.

Arsenal defender Gabriel ruled out for rest of season

Arsenal defender Gabriel will miss the remainder of the season after the club confirmed he requires hamstring surgery. The Brazilian was substituted in the first half of Arsenal’s 2-1 win against Fulham at the Emirates stadium on Tuesday. Arsenal say the 27-year-old is aiming to return to action in time for the start of the 2025-26 campaign.
