Seamus Coleman and Leighton Baines will take temporary charge of Everton for tonight’s FA Cup clash against Peterborough United, after manager Sean Dyche was sacked by the club hours before kick-off. The club confirmed the news in a statement this afternoon, saying that Dyche and his coaching staff were departing with immediate effect and that the process to find his replacement was underway.

Anthony Gordon missed a penalty in front of the Gwladys Street End as Newcastle and Everton played out a 0-0 draw. Everton have signed Republic of Ireland defender Jake O’Brien from Lyon for £17m. The 23-year-old centre-back has signed a four-year deal and returns to the Premier League, having only joined the Ligue 1 club from Crystal Palace last year.
