Norris snatches pole from Hamilton for Hungarian Grand Prix

McLaren’s Lando Norris took his first grand prix pole position of the season in Hungary – but Lewis Hamilton was denied the chance to make it an all-British front row by a penalty for impeding. A three-place penalty for blocking Norris’ team-mate Oscar Piastri has dropped Hamilton to fifth on the grid. Charles Leclerc will now start from P2 in the second Ferrari while championship leader Kimi Antonelli rises to third in his Mercedes.

Leclerc takes surprise pole ahead of McLaren duo in Hungary

Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc took a sensational, surprise pole position at the Hungarian Grand Prix ahead of McLaren’s title contenders Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris. Leclerc, nowhere near the McLaren’s pace until the final part of qualifying, pipped Piastri by just 0.026 seconds. Norris, 16 points adrift in the championship, was 0.015secs behind his team-mate.
