Piastri eases to victory in Qatar Sprint

Oscar Piastri cut McLaren team-mate Lando Norris’ championship lead by two points with victory in the sprint race at the Qatar Grand Prix. The Australian led an uneventful race from start to finish as Norris trailed home behind Mercedes’ George Russell, the top three finishing in the order in which they started. Red Bull’s Max Verstappen moved up from sixth on the grid to finish fourth, losing one point to Norris in the championship.

Piastri beats Russell to Sprint pole in Qatar

Lando Norris could qualify only third for the sprint race at the Qatar Grand Prix – on the weekend the McLaren driver could clinch the world title for the first time. Norris’ team-mate Oscar Piastri, one of his two championship rivals, took pole, with Mercedes’ George Russell second. Red Bull’s Max Verstappen – tied with Piastri in the title race, 24 points behind Norris – had a difficult session and will line up sixth for the sprint.

Norris wins Sao Paulo Sprint as Piastri crashes out

McLaren’s Lando Norris extended his championship lead to nine points as he won the Sao Paulo Grand Prix sprint race while team-mate and title rival Oscar Piastri crashed out. Piastri lost control through Turn Three on lap six of the race and spun into the barriers – the latest in a series of blows to the Australian’s title chances. The race was stopped after both Sauber’s Nico Hulkenberg and Alpine’s Franco Colapinto crashed in the same place, fortunately neither hitting Piastri’s car or each other.

Norris shines to take Sao Paulo sprint pole

Lando Norris took pole position for the sprint race at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix with McLaren team-mate and title rival Oscar Piastri in third. The Briton beat Mercedes’ Kimi Antonelli by 0.097 seconds, while Piastri was 0.185secs adrift of the Briton in third. Norris took the championship lead from Piastri by one point with victory in Mexico City two weeks ago. Red Bull’s Max Verstappen the only other realistic title contender could only manage sixth.

Verstappen wins Sprint in Austin as McLarens collide

Red Bull’s Max Verstappen eased to victory in the sprint race at the United States Grand Prix ahead of Mercedes’ George Russell and the Williams of Carlos Sainz. McLaren team-mates and title rivals Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris crashed out in a dramatic collision just after the start. Piastri bounced into Norris after clipping the Sauber of Nico Hulkenberg, taking both out of the race. Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso was also taken out by the incident.
