Oliver Oakes appointed as Alpine Team Principal

Alpine has confirmed Oliver Oakes will take over from Bruno Famin in charge of its Formula 1 team at the end of August. Oakes, 36, will become the youngest current principal of a Formula 1 team. The former racing driver currently runs Hitech, which he founded in 2015, and now competes in Formula 2, Formula 3, GB3 and British Formula 4.

Carlos Sainz signs multi-year deal at Williams

Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz is to join Williams next season on what the team calls a “multi-year” contract. The 29-year-old Spaniard has lost his seat at Ferrari after the team decided to sign Lewis Hamilton, who arrives next year. Sainz has picked Williams over other opportunities at Alpine and Sauber, which will become Audi’s factory effort in 2026. Sainz has won three grands prix since joining Ferrari in 2021 and was the only non Red Bull driver to win a race last season.

Bruno Famin to leave role as Alpine Team Principal

Alpine team principal Bruno Famin has confirmed he will step down from his role at the head of the F1 team at the end of August. Famin, who took over as team principal at the Renault-owned outfit almost a year ago to the day from Otmar Szafnauer following last year’s Belgian GP, says he will move on to concentrate on the other aspects of his Alpine role, based at their French headquarters in Viry-Chatillon, where he is vice-president of their motorsport projects.

Esteban Ocon signs multi-year deal at Haas from 2025

The US-based Haas team have signed Alpine driver Esteban Ocon on a multi-year contract for the 2025 Formula 1 season. Ocon, 27, made his debut in F1 in 2016 and picked up his first and only race win at the 2021 Hungarian Grand Prix. The Frenchman will partner rookie Ollie Bearman next season as the team opt for a completely new driver pairing after letting Kevin Magnussen go while Nico Hulkenberg heads to Sauber.

Haas terminate Nikita Mazepin’s contract with immediate effect

The Haas F1 team today announced the immediate termination of the contract of their Russian driver Nikita Mazepin and their deal with Russian title sponsor Uralkali. The move comes after calls for the team to distance its self from Russia amid the ongoing invasion of Ukraine.
