Southampton have appointed Ivan Juric as their new manager on an 18-month deal. The Croat replaces Russell Martin, who was sacked by the Saints last week after their 5-0 thrashing by Tottenham. Juric, 49, was most recently manager of AS Roma, but was sacked in November after just 12 matches in charge. The Southampton job marks Juric’s first managerial role outside Italy.

Isack Hadjar to race for RB in 2025

Frenchman Isack Hadjar has been promoted to Red Bull’s second team to race alongside Japanese Yuki Tsunoda during the 2025 Formula 1 season. Hadjar is a replacement at the team that will now be known as Racing Bulls for Liam Lawson, who has been switched to Red Bull after they dropped Sergio Perez. The 20 year old finished second in the Formula 2 standings taking four wins with Campos Racing.

Friedkin Group completes takeover of Everton

Everton’s takeover by the Friedkin Group has been confirmed, ending the turbulent tenure of Farhad Moshiri. A statement issued by the club on Thursday morning said the Toffees had been acquired by Roundhouse Capital Holdings Limited, an entity within the Friedkin Group. The club said the deal, said to be in excess of €486m had received the necessary regulatory approvals.

Liam Lawson replaces Sergio Perez at Red Bull

New Zealander Liam Lawson will race for Red Bull alongside world champion Max Verstappen in 2025 following the team’s decision to ditch Sergio Perez. The announcement that Lawson was moving up from second team Racing Bulls came a day after Red Bull and Perez announced they had agreed a termination deal following a weak season by the Mexican. The 22-year-old moves into the F1 front-line after just 11 grands prix spread over two seasons.
