Norris eases to victory in Miami Sprint

Lando Norris took McLaren’s first victory of the season with a dominant drive from pole position in the Miami Grand Prix sprint race. The world champion was untroubled as he converted pole into a lead at the first corner and controlled the race from there. Norris led a McLaren one-two ahead of Oscar Piastri, who fell back from Norris as the race developed and was forced to hold off Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc in the closing laps. Kimi Antonelli won a scrap with Mercedes team-mate George Russell for fourth on track, but was penalised for exceeding track limits too many times and given a five-second penalty.

Lando Norris surges to pole for Sprint in Miami

McLaren’s Lando Norris became the first driver to beat a Mercedes in qualifying this year with sprint pole at the Miami Grand Prix. The world champion beat championship leader Kimi Antonelli by 0.222 seconds with the second McLaren of Oscar Piastri third fastest. Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc was fourth, ahead of Red Bull’s Max Verstappen and Mercedes’ George Russell. Lewis Hamilton was seventh in the second Ferrari, ahead of Argentine Franco Colapinto in the Alpine.
