Lando Norris took advantage in a dramatic sprint race in tricky, changeable conditions at the Miami Grand Prix to claim victory from his McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri, with Lewis Hamilton enjoying a well-timed strategy call by his Ferrari team to take third place. The defending world champion, Max Verstappen, had a shocker, demoted from fourth to 17th after he was penalised for an unsafe release in the pit lane by his Red Bull team.

Antonelli storms to maiden pole ahead of Miami Sprint

Mercedes driver Andrea Kimi Antonelli became the youngest driver to take a Formula 1 pole position for the sprint event at the Miami Grand Prix. The 18-year-old beat McLaren’s Oscar Piastri, the championship leader, by 0.045 seconds. The second McLaren of Lando Norris was third ahead of Red Bull’s Max Verstappen. Antonelli’s team-mate George Russell was fifth fastest, 0.309secs slower than the Italian rookie. It was an outstanding performance from Antonelli, the first time he has beaten Russell in qualifying this season.

Lando Norris ends long wait for maiden victory at Miami GP

McLaren’s Lando Norris beat Red Bull’s Max Verstappen with help from the safety car to take his maiden Formula 1 victory at the Miami Grand Prix. Norris jumped to the front because he was able to make his pit stop when a safety car was deployed at about half distance while others had already stopped. Verstappen was unable to keep pace with Norris when the race restarted with 27 laps to go, and the Briton stretched ahead, while the world champion had to settle for second ahead of Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc.

Verstappen holds off Ferrari duo to take pole in Miami

Red Bull’s Max Verstappen beat Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz to pole position at the Miami Grand Prix. Verstappen was 0.141 seconds quicker than Leclerc as the two men finished first and second in qualifying, just as they have in all competitive sessions so far in Miami. Sergio Perez will start from P4 in the second Red Bull while McLaren’s Lando Norris will line up fifth for the race ahead of team-mate Oscar Piastri.

Verstappen canters to Sprint victory in Miami

Red Bull’s Max Verstappen took a controlled victory ahead of Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc in the sprint race at the Miami Grand Prix. Verstappen was in control after fending off an attack from Leclerc at the first corner. Sergio Perez dropped behind RB’s Daniel Ricciardo at the first corner but recovered to take third. Ricciardo drove an exceptional race to hold off Carlos Sainz’s Ferrari and Oscar Piastri’s McLaren to take fourth.
