Antonelli takes sensational pole in thrilling Monaco qualifying

Mercedes’ Kimi Antonelli pipped Red Bull’s Max Verstappen to pole position in a gripping qualifying session at the Monaco Grand Prix. The top spot changed hands three times in the final seconds of qualifying as Antonelli became last man standing, edging Verstappen by just 0.043 seconds to take his fourth pole of the year. Lewis Hamilton was third as the fastest Ferrari, a place ahead of team-mate Charles Leclerc, who had been briefly top with two minutes to go but crashed on his final lap.

Norris pips home favourite Leclerc to pole in Monaco

McLaren’s Lando Norris snatched pole position for the Monaco Grand Prix from local hero Charles Leclerc’s Ferrari with the final lap of qualifying. Norris beat Leclerc by 0.109 seconds as the second McLaren of Oscar Piastri took third place ahead of Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton. Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, so far the McLaren drivers’ only title rival, could manage only fifth place for Red Bull. Racing Bulls’ French rookie Isack Hadjar took sixth place ahead of Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso.
