Piastri charges to victory in Bahrain ahead of Russell

McLaren’s Oscar Piastri took a controlled, dominant victory in the Bahrain Grand Prix to close on team-mate Lando Norris in the world championship. The Australian was serene in the lead, calmly keeping himself out of reach of his rivals, as Mercedes’ George Russell held off an assault from the second McLaren of Lando Norris for second. Norris, fighting back from sixth on the grid and a five-second penalty for a false start, had a chance to pass Russell going into the final lap, but could not make it work.

McLaren’s Oscar Piastri took pole position for the Bahrain Grand Prix with team-mate Lando Norris down in sixth. Mercedes’ George Russell qualified second but was demoted one place behind Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc because a team operational error. Max Verstappen takes pole for season opening Bahrain Grand Prix

Red Bull’s Max Verstappen put in a crushing performance to set pole position for the season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix. The world champion was 0.228 seconds quicker than Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc in second. Mercedes’ George Russell was third from Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz. Red Bull’s Sergio Perez was fifth, from Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso and McLaren’s Lando Norris.

Charles Leclerc leads home Ferrari 1-2 in Bahrain

Ferrari secured a 1-2 finish at the season opening Bahrain Grand Prix as Charles Leclerc converted his pole position into a victory ahead of Carlos Sainz. Red Bull had looked on to have two cars finish in the top four but late power issues for Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez saw the pair DNF allowing Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton to round out the podium.
