Williams retain Logan Sargeant for 2024 season

Williams have confirmed American Logan Sargeant will remain with the team for a second season. Sargeant, 22, scored one point during his debut campaign and will line up next year at Williams alongside London-born Thai Alex Albon. Williams’ announcement completes the 20-driver grid for 2024.

F1 bosses back sprint race format change for 2024

Plans to change to Formula 1’s Sprint format for 2024 have received support from the sport’s teams and bosses. Although any changes are not yet agreed and remain at a formative stage with further discussions planned in January, the FIA announced that a meeting at the Abu Dhabi GP the F1 Commission “gave overall support for an update to the Sprint Format for 2024 to further rationalise the weekend by separating Sprint activities from those for the Grand Prix”.

Verstappen jumps Norris to win Sao Paulo Sprint

Red Bull’s Max Verstappen drove to a comfortable victory in the Sao Paulo Grand Prix sprint race after passing Lando Norris’ McLaren at the start. Verstappen’s better launch secured him the inside line for the first corner and he controlled the race from there. Red Bull’s Sergio Perez recovered from dropping behind Russell and team-mate Lewis Hamilton to finish third.

Norris beats Red Bull duo to pole for Sao Paulo Sprint

McLaren’s Lando Norris beat Red Bull’s Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez to pole position for Saturday’s sprint race at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix. Norris’ took his first Formula 1 pole by 0.061 seconds but was ruing not achieving his potential in qualifying for the grand prix on Friday.

Verstappen takes pole as rain halts qualifying in Sao Paulo

Red Bull’s Max Verstappen beat Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc to pole position in a rain-affected qualifying session at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix. Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll and Fernando Alonso took third and fourth, benefitting from approaching rain. The track stayed dry for every driver’s first lap in the final session but Leclerc described conditions as “super-weird” as the wind shifted direction.
